Trust Your Body. Trust Your Baby.

I’m Summer Friedmann, owner of Done Naturally Lactation Co. I live in Kansas City with my husband, Peter, and four boys…errr…I mean four young men. {in order from L to R} Ziah is my youngest at 18, Luna is 21, Tevan is 23 and my stepson, Sam, is 26. My horrible experience with a ‘not-good’ Lactation Consultant in 2002 with the birth of my first son, sparked me into my passion of helping families with lactation. I wanted to be a part of the solution for GREAT lactation support. And yes, Of Course! I breastfed all three of my belly boys. If you want to hear my own breastfeeding journey with each of them, watch my YouTube Video to hear about my own story challenges, my success and even each of my weaning stories.

Summer J Friedmann, IBCLC

“After experiencing poor care from an IBCLC with my first son, I immediately knew I wanted to change my career path from music to becoming an IBCLC. I thought…someday I want to be one of the good ones. I started out in 2004 as a Certified Childbirth Educator in The Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth. After 14 years of teaching over 300 couples, (and having 300+ babies) I retired that chapter of my life. Simultaneously I became active in La Leche League and their support groups, later becoming an Accredited La Leche League Leader (c. 2006 - 2025). Leading support groups with families and their babies was such a joy. Answering phone calls and emails from moms who needed help filled my days, in between mothering my own young boys. Those hours helping mothers over my first 5 years as a LLL Leader were the clinical hours I needed to qualify to sit for the board exam for IBCLC. Each year gave me 500 hours and I needed 2500 clinical hours at the time. In 2010 I sat for my boards and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I spent 10 years in the Kansas City hospital setting as the primary IBCLC for a level III NICU, Labor/Delivery and Postpartum Units. In 2019, I said goodbye to the hospital chapter of my life and began working full-time in my private practice where I remain. This was also when my YouTube channel was born. I have a great desire to extend my community outreach and my YouTube videos allow me to share free quality up-to-date information, in relevant way, for the fast-paced social-media-world families are now navigating.”

  • "Summer was a godsend. We met over Zoom, and even in the virtual setting, she helped get a better latch than anyone I had seen in person. By the time I met with Summer, I had seen three IBCLCs, and one CLC..."

  • “I had heard you can stop pumping at work and keep breastfeeding at home…she educated me on how to wean from pumping safely and celebrated with me when I had my first week of no pump during work and breastfeeding…”

  • When she came out it was like I had known her for years...We are thriving! All thanks to Summer. She will wrap you in her arms and give you all the tools to make you and baby ok. This isn't a career for her. There is so much more to it than that!..."
